Where can I have my blood pressure checked?
High blood pressure is a serious condition. If left untreated it can raise your risk of heart attack, stroke and kidney disease.
There are over four million people in the UK that have high blood pressure and do not know it because often it has no symptoms.
If you are over 40 and don’t already have a diagnosis of high blood pressure you can visit your local pharmacy for a blood pressure check.
Or, if you are aged 40 to 74 and no pre-existing conditions, you are eligible for a free NHS health check.
The NHS health check is a free check-up of your overall health. It can tell you whether you're at higher risk of getting certain health problems, such as:
- Heart disease
- Diabetes
- Kidney disease
- Stroke
